Our current business kept us busy, but bouncing between designing, making, and marketing a wide variety of products was not sustainable. So, while we will continue to be Jacks of all trades in our personal lives, we have decided that our business needs to be focused on one category. To design, make, and sell the best cozy, playful, heirloom objects, I need to allow myself to become an expert in those objects and the customers who need them.
Over my winter break I prototyped a classic stuffed rabbit. I drew inspiration from vintage Steiff teddy bears, Beatrix Potter illustrations, and of course the original 1926 Winnie the Pooh pen & ink drawings to create a toy that feels timeless and special. With a brown paper grocery bag and some leftover tissue paper I got to work on a pattern and handsewed a prototype at the kitchen table.
